Hello! I’m Helen Wan, author of THE PARTNER TRACK (St. Martin’s Press). I’m a novelist, media lawyer, and speaker. I write most often about women and ambition, workplace dynamics, and how race, sex, class, and culture impact the personal and professional choices we make. My nonfiction has appeared in The Washington Post, CNN.com, The Daily Beast, The Huffington Post, and elsewhere. My novel THE PARTNER TRACK is the story of a young woman of color competing for partnership at a powerful law firm. It’s about pursuing success and trying to live authentically in the work world while staying true to ourselves.

I’m fascinated by our complicated relationship with ambition. I love a good workplace story. I root for underdogs.

I speak at companies, schools, law firms, conferences, and leadership events around the country about how women and people of color often experience the career ladder and how we can achieve a more inclusive environment. I’m thrilled that my novel is now taught in college and law school classrooms. I also teach writing in New York.

I’m currently at work on a new book. And I’m excited to be teaching a new class “Fiction as Activism” at The Asian American Writers’ Workshop in NYC in Spring 2018. Details are at my EVENTS tab here.

When not writing or teaching, I love to read anything I can get my hands on, explore new places, relax with family and friends, and make our young son laugh. I serve on the boards of The New York Women’s Bar Association Foundation and The Asian American Arts Alliance. You can find me on Facebook or Twitter @helenwan1.

Thanks for visiting my author site. Happy to meet you! Here’s to your happiness and success, however they may be defined by you.
