Hello! I’m Helen Wan, author of THE PARTNER TRACK (Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press). I’m a novelist, speaker, and consultant on diversity and inclusion. I’m also a media lawyer. I write about team dynamics and how race, sex, class, culture, family and privilege impact personal and professional decisions and outcomes. My work has appeared in The Washington Post, HuffPost, The Daily Beast and on CNN. My novel THE PARTNER TRACK is the story of a young woman of color navigating the alien culture at a powerful white-shoe law firm. It’s about pursuing success and living authentically at work while staying true to ourselves and our values.

I’m fascinated by our complicated relationship with ambition. I love a good workplace story. I root for underdogs.

I speak at universities, companies, law schools, law firms, and leadership events about how women and people of color often experience the career ladder, and how to achieve an inclusive environment where talented people will go, stay, and thrive. I’m thrilled that THE PARTNER TRACK is taught in college and law school classrooms.

I’m currently completing a new novel.

When not lawyering or writing, I love to read anything I can get my hands on, explore new places, binge-watch Hitchcock, and make our young son laugh. I’m honored to serve on the Amherst College Executive Committee and the non-profit boards of Pen Parentis, The New York Women’s Bar Association Foundation and The Asian American Arts Alliance.

Thanks for visiting my author site. Very happy to meet you! Here’s to your happiness and success, however they are defined by you.
