Hello, I’m Helen Wan, author of THE PARTNER TRACK (St. Martin’s Press). I’m a novelist, speaker, and consultant on diversity and inclusion. I was also a media lawyer for many years. I write about women and ambition (especially women of color), team dynamics, and how race, sex, class, culture, and privilege impact our personal and professional choices. My work has appeared in The Washington Post,, The Daily Beast, and The Huffington Post. My novel THE PARTNER TRACK is the story of a young Asian-American woman competing for partnership at a powerful white-shoe law firm. It’s about pursuing success and living authentically at work while staying true to ourselves.

I’m fascinated by our complicated relationship with ambition. I love a good workplace story. I root for underdogs.

I speak at universities, companies, law firms, and leadership events about how women and people of color often experience the career ladder, and how to achieve a more inclusive environment where talented people want to go, stay, and thrive. I’m thrilled that my book is taught in college and law school classrooms.

I’m currently at work on a new book. And I’m excited to be teaching “Fiction as Activism” at The Asian American Writers’ Workshop in NYC this spring.

When not working, I love to read anything I can get my hands on, explore new places, and make our young son laugh. I serve on the boards of The New York Women’s Bar Association Foundation and The Asian American Arts Alliance.

Thanks for visiting my author site. Happy to meet you! Here’s to your happiness and success, however they are defined by you.
