Hello, I’m Helen Wan, author of THE PARTNER TRACK (Macmillan). I’m a novelist, lawyer, and speaker on women in the workplace, careers, and diversity. I’ve written for CNN, The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, and The Huffington Post.
THE PARTNER TRACK is the story of a young Asian American woman poised to become the first female partner at a powerful, prestigious law firm. It’s about how race, sex, and class impact the lives of talented people on the corporate ladder. It’s also about ambition itself, and how we can pursue professional success while staying true to ourselves.
I’ve had the honor of speaking at many universities, companies, law firms, leadership conferences, and other places around the country about my book, about how women and people of color often experience the dynamics of the career ladder, and what we can do to achieve a more engaging, inclusive workplace. I’m thrilled that my novel is now being taught in law school and college classrooms.
I find group dynamics endlessly fascinating. I’m very interested in our complicated relationship with ambition, and how cultural factors influence our pursuit of happiness. I love a good workplace story. I root for underdogs.
I’m now at work on my second novel. When I’m not writing, I also love to read, explore new neighborhoods, and make our toddler son laugh. Thanks for visiting my website. I’m happy to meet you!
